Peter Yong Seung Shin, MD

Peter Yong Seung Shin, MD Anesthesiologist Schedule an Appointment Dr. Shin is a dedicated anesthesiologist with a strong commitment to providing safe, knowledgeable, and exceptional perioperative care. He is particularly passionate about harnessing the power of regional anesthesia to enhance patient comfort and outcomes. Dr. Shin earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2015. He furthered his education with an Anesthesiology Residency at the same institution, where he was recognized with the Chairman’s Academic Award in 2019. His commitment to regional anesthesia led him to pursue a specialized fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. Here, he honed his skills in administering regional anesthesia in both ambulatory and inpatient settings and played a pivotal role in managing a comprehensive inpatient pain service. Before joining Queens Surgical Center, Dr. Shin served as an Anesthesiologist at QSCA LLC, where he specialized in administering anesthesia for the gynecological patient population. He is also a Managing Partner at United NYC Medical Associates, overseeing both administrative and clinical policies of the group and educating partners on regional anesthesia techniques. Prior to this, he was an Attending Anesthesiologist at Northwell Health, where he managed a wide variety of cases, including orthopedic, thoracic, and labor and delivery procedures. Dr. Shin has contributed to the medical community through various publications, including research on the neurobiology of propofol addiction and migraine surgery. He has also presented at esteemed conferences, such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists conference and the NYSORA CME Retreat in Switzerland. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Shin has a history of community service, having volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Nutley Volunteer Emergency & Rescue Squad and the Old Tappan First Aid Squad. He has also been actively involved in charitable activities with St. Andrew Kim Church. Additionally, he participated in the Public Understanding Medicine in Action (PUMA) outreach program, discussing health issues with individuals undergoing treatment at Renaissance House. Dr. Shin's unwavering dedication to his patients, combined with his extensive training and experience, makes him a trusted figure in the field of anesthesiology. David A. Derdzinski, MD

David A. Derdzinski, MD Anesthesiologist David A. Derdzinski, MD, is a dedicated anesthesiologist with a strong background in clinical anesthesia, emphasizing regional techniques. Dr. Derdzinski earned his Medical Degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Derdzinski completed his anesthesiology and critical care medicine residency at John Hopkins Hospital and gained further experience in regional anesthesia at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He has served as an attending anesthesiologist at New York Community Hospital, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, and Beth Israel Medical Center. A co-founder and former president of the International Health Exchange, Dr. Derdzinski has been actively involved in medical missions to Belize, Ecuador, and Haiti. He has held various leadership positions in medical student organizations and served as a Medical Programs Director at Kaplan Test Prep, helping medical graduates prepare for the USMLE. In addition to his professional pursuits, Dr. Derdzinski has worked as an English teacher in Poland and presented at the AMSA Conference on starting informational medical relief projects. His passion for medicine and dedication to helping others make him a valuable asset in the field of anesthesiology.
Kyaw Htun, MD

Kyaw Htun, MD Anesthesiologist Kyaw Htun, MD, is a highly skilled anesthesiologist practicing at Queens Surgical Center. Dr. Htun received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the prestigious University of Yangon Institute of Medicine in Myanmar. He then completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of the State of New York, where he received advanced training in his field. Dr. Htun's passion for his work and dedication to his patients is unparalleled. His attention to detail and commitment to exceptional care has earned him a reputation as a skilled and compassionate anesthesiologist. He is known for his ability to put his patients at ease and his thorough approach to anesthesia care. Dr. Htun completed his residency at the Department of Anesthesiology at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. During his residency, he gained extensive experience in various areas of anesthesia practice, including general, regional, and sedation anesthesia. He also completed an internship in the Department of Medicine at the University Hospital of New York Medical College- Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center. As an anesthesiologist, Dr. Htun is responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of his patients during surgery. Gordon E. Sims III, MD

Gordon E. Sims III, MD Anesthesiologist Gordon E. Sims III, MD, is a highly skilled anesthesiologist with an extensive background in the field, including experience in the United States Navy. Dr. Sims holds multiple medical licenses, including those for New Jersey, Florida, New York, and California. He is ABA-certified and has completed both Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Dr. Sims' medical education began at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he studied from 2009 to 2014. He then completed his internship and residency in Anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University's University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center between 2014 and 2018. In 2018, Dr. Sims began his service as an active-duty US Navy anesthesiologist at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, a position he held until 2020. After his time in the military, he worked as an anesthesiologist at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY, before transitioning to an independent anesthesiologist role at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, NY, in 2021. Throughout his career, Dr. Sims has received various awards and recognitions, including the Armed Forces Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal from the United States Navy, as well as scholarships from the Health Professions Scholarship Program and the Service and Research Scholarship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Sims has been involved in multiple research projects and has published several articles. Furthermore, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to service, engaging in volunteer activities and serving on various panels related to medical education. Igor Yukelis, MD Anesthesiologist Dr. Igor Yukelis, MD, is a highly esteemed anesthesiologist at Queens Surgical Center. With over 35 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Yukelis is a leading expert in anesthesiology and pain management. Dr. Yukelis received his Medical Degree at Minsk State Institute of Medicine in Minsk, Belarus. He then went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at The Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. Prior to that, he completed internships at Lincoln Medical and Medical Health Center as well as Minsk City Hospital. Currently, Dr. Yukelis serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care, and Pain Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
