Peter Yong Seung Shin, MD
Anesthesiologist
Dr. Shin is a dedicated anesthesiologist with a strong commitment to providing safe, knowledgeable, and exceptional perioperative care. He is particularly passionate about harnessing the power of regional anesthesia to enhance patient comfort and outcomes.
Dr. Shin earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2015. He furthered his education with an Anesthesiology Residency at the same institution, where he was recognized with the Chairman’s Academic Award in 2019. His commitment to regional anesthesia led him to pursue a specialized fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. Here, he honed his skills in administering regional anesthesia in both ambulatory and inpatient settings and played a pivotal role in managing a comprehensive inpatient pain service.
Before joining Queens Surgical Center, Dr. Shin served as an Anesthesiologist at QSCA LLC, where he specialized in administering anesthesia for the gynecological patient population. He is also a Managing Partner at United NYC Medical Associates, overseeing both administrative and clinical policies of the group and educating partners on regional anesthesia techniques. Prior to this, he was an Attending Anesthesiologist at Northwell Health, where he managed a wide variety of cases, including orthopedic, thoracic, and labor and delivery procedures.
Dr. Shin has contributed to the medical community through various publications, including research on the neurobiology of propofol addiction and migraine surgery. He has also presented at esteemed conferences, such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists conference and the NYSORA CME Retreat in Switzerland.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Shin has a history of community service, having volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Nutley Volunteer Emergency & Rescue Squad and the Old Tappan First Aid Squad. He has also been actively involved in charitable activities with St. Andrew Kim Church. Additionally, he participated in the Public Understanding Medicine in Action (PUMA) outreach program, discussing health issues with individuals undergoing treatment at Renaissance House.
