After
Your Surgery

Go Back

After your surgical procedure, your physician, as well as the anesthesiologist, will determine when it’s safe for you to be discharged and sent home.

You will be given clear instructions to follow after your operation that will help ensure you heal and recuperate as quickly as possible. It is important to follow all instructions you are given.

After your surgery and in the days that follow, it is critical to rest as directed and take it easy to allow your body to heal before resuming your normal activities.

If you are given any dietary or exercise restrictions, it is critical to follow these to ensure the surgical wounds heal and your body is not placed under a lot of stress before you have recuperated adequately.

Gradually, you will be able to get back to your normal activities.

It is important you have a responsible adult accompany you for surgery, who will get you back home and be available to provide care to you for at least 24 hours after your procedure. If you do not have someone to escort you after the procedure, please contact our staff at (718) 425-4850 to arrange for a care partner to accompany you home from your procedure.

Make sure you take all the medications you are asked to take on the schedule prescribed.

Avoid driving, drinking, taking non-prescribed medications, operating machinery, lifting heavy items or making important decisions after your surgery.

Queens Surgical Center will follow up with you after your surgery, but please call us immediately if you experience any adverse incidents following your operation.
