Kevin Lai, MD

Kevin Lai, MD, is an accomplished ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery. He currently practices at Medical and Surgical Eye Specialist, PLLC. Dr. Lai obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Johns Hopkins University and then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Stony Brook University School of Medicine.

After completing his preliminary year in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital, Dr. Lai pursued a residency in ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He later completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the same institution under the mentorship of Dr. John Seedor and Dr. David Ritterband.

Dr. Lai has received several academic honors and awards, such as the Louis J. Girard Award for Resident Research, the Salutatorian Szema Yuan-Pian Award, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) Junior Inductee recognition, among others. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and presented his research at various conferences.

His research experience encompasses a wide range of topics within ophthalmology, including the treatment of neovascular macular degeneration, lattice dystrophy, and inflammatory eye diseases. In addition to his expertise in ophthalmology, Dr. Lai is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys playing piano and practicing Wing Chun Kung Fu.
