Shelby K. Samuel, MD

Gastroenterologist

Shelby K. Samuel, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist, the medical director of his own medical practice, and an assistant professor at Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Samuel is also an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology and a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Dr. Samuel earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Yale University and then earned his Doctor of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Samuel completed his residency in internal medicine and, subsequently, his fellowship in gastroenterology at Kings County Hospital Center. Dr. Samuel is published in several peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at the American College of Gastroenterology national annual meetings. During his active teaching years, Dr. Samuel taught medical student students, internal medicine residents, and gastroenterology fellows.

Beyond his medical pursuits, Dr. Samuel is also a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a Tai Chi Chuan enthusiast. Dr. Samuel is a multifaceted and well-respected medical professional committed to his family, patients, staff, community, and the medical community.
